Google\u2019s Penguin update was announced in 2012 and affected many websites. It was originally intended to combat webspam<\/a> and is now a vital part of Google\u2019s core algorithm<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like Google Panda<\/a>, Google Penguin aimed to optimize search engine results<\/a> for users. When Penguin was first released, it affected 3.1 percent of search engine queries. Penguin was mainly triggered by link scheme<\/a>s, where websites purchased backlinks to artificially enhance their ranking<\/a>. This update also fought keyword stuffing<\/a>, giving users more high-quality search results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
